What a fantastic treat this is! I feel like I've hit the big leagues with this tool. The fit and finish of this device is impeccable. The blade is really sharp right out of the box but for the price you pay for the heirloom tools at Lie Nielsen, I expected that. A quick glide across a piece of oak I had proved that this was a good move. It's a beautiful plane and I can't wait to get in the shop.
So I decided to try my hand at making my own Leather Balm and after much research and careful sourcing of all my products and equipment... I have formulated an awesome product worthy of all grades of leather from those scuffed up, rigid work boots to your Ferragamo and Gucci loafers. Not to mention how good it is at restoring Horse Tack such as saddles, girths, cinches, bridles, and martingales. The product is 100% organic and contains no preservatives or chemicals that could be harmful to humans or animals. This stuff is so clean you could eat it (but I'll pass on that)! So, the last time I posted how I had made a good start and this week, the momentum continues! I have been growing the Instagram page and in a week I am over 100 followers! Cool. I never realized there were soooo many folks out there with a passion for this type of work but the cool part is they are all so willing to share their experiences and ideas which really makes me happy to be a part of the community of artisans. Just before that, I started a bank account for the business and my small business license to sell goods from my city/state...
I've wanted to start this business for the last year and a half and I am almost there. This week I have been setting up my LLC, getting my tax ID, and over the weekend I got this Shopify site going. Soon I will need to get licensed as a small business in my state and then I will need to create some inventory!! It will be a busy time for me but I will try to share as much as I can along the way and I will keep the pictures and videos coming as I develop the company Instagram page and start a YouTube channel.
